What are the Americas?

America or the Americas refers to most people to the countries located in the American continent.

Here are the classifications I know for the region

1. America is the United States of America

2. America or the Americas consists of North and South America

    a. North America is the US, Canada and Mexico and South America is the rest of the continent or,

    b. North America is the US, Canada, Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean, and South America is the rest of the continent

3. This is the classification I like the most, probably because I am from Central America, America consists of four regions

    a. North America

    b. Central America

    c. Caribbean

    d. South America

4. Latin America is known to all countries from Mexico through Argentina and Chile, this includes all Spanish speaking countries, but also includes Brazil (they speak Portuguese), Belize (they speak mostly English), and sometimes even the Caribbean, where Spanish, English, French and Dutch are just some of the languages spoken.

I guess there could be more ways of describing this, but this is what I've heard by now.

The Americas have a territorial extension of the Americas is 16,233,279 sq. miles or 42,044,000 sq. Kilometers.
